The Wedding Singer

Mom - here is the picture of Emily singing at the wedding luncheon. It was pretty cute.

FINALLY!

Emily finally started kindergarten today! She had so much fun and has spent the afternoon telling me every detail about what happened during class. At least I know she's listening and paying attention. I think we're off to a good start.

Pics of the Day

Photoshop fun!

This is a picture I took at a 50th Wedding Anniversary . I thought it turned out pretty sweet. I am loving being able to mess around with photos a little, although I'm still a photo-purist and want to get the perfect shot because it's the perfect shot, not because I "doctored" it. (But the "doctoring" has been fun and is very addicting!)

5th Grade!

Today is Ryan's first day of school. He was very excited - and very prepared. He had his outfit planned, and his lunch and backpack packed for days. He wanted to call his friends at 7:15 this morning to make plans for riding their bikes together! He (painfully) waited until 8:15 to call them.

Emily has also been ready for quite a while. This setup is just for her kindergarten assessment! She doesn't start until August 31, so needless to say there has been much weeping and wailing because Ryan got to start before her.

Back to School Night

Kindergarten has been a long time coming for Em - and tonight she finally got to meet her teacher and see her classroom. She was grinning from ear to ear the entire time. Her teacher is Miss Renee and we are excited for a fun year ahead!

See? I told you they were out of control. You can't even see all of them - they've taken over the whole other side, too!

Pic of the Day

We have these HUMONGOUS sunflowers that have taken over my garden. Seriously. They were really fun the first year, but this year they are driving me crazy. This one is well over 12" in diameter and the stalks are like tree trunks. Most of them are at least 2' taller than the house! They are pretty though...

Pic of the Day

I took this picture in some botanical gardens in St. Lucia. They had the most amazing flowers there. Don't worry, there will be more! (It's even prettier if you click on it and see it close up)

Back to School Shopping!

Yesterday we went shopping with Brynn and Sarah. I LOVE that Emily loves shopping. We found the most adorable clothes and neither of us can hardly wait for school to start. Em thinks she's quite the fashion bug, so she was pretty involved in the selections. Having a little girl is so much fun. In stark contrast, shopping with Ryan took about 10 minutes - he likes a certain look and anything that falls within that "look" is just fine with him!

Pic of the Day

I let Emily choose today's Pic of the Day. This is her new bedding and curtains that she is pretty excited about. She wanted curtains that she can open and close like they do in movies. We did some major "spring cleaning" today and got the kids' closets all ready for a new school year. We were amazed by all the things we found that we've been looking for for quite some time!

New Beginnings

Friends Lisa and Karen inspired me to start a blog - so here goes. I thought it would be a fun way to keep in touch with family and friends that I don't see very often (and even those I do!). I don't plan to update it terribly often, and when I do, it won't be earth shattering stuff. Mostly photos and a few tidbits about what we've been up to.

Photo shoot
We did a photo shoot today - Ryan turned 10 on 8/3 and Emily will be 6 in October. These are some of my favorites.

I can't believe it's been 10 years since Ryan came into our lives! I tried to include a page out of his baby scrapbook, but it won't upload for some reason. He is so different yet so much the same. He is such a great kid and I love the little man that he's becoming!

Thanks for stopping by. Feel free to comment and say "hello" - or not. (But it would be great to hear from you!)
